American Airlines Boeing 737 Max 8, on a flight from Miami to New York City, arrived for landing at LaGuardia Airport in New York, March 12, 2019.
American Airlines expands cancellation for Boeing 737 Max aircraft by August 19, a major summer travel season, while the jets remain grounded.
"We remain confident that the upcoming software update, with new Boeing training elements for MAX, will lead to the recertification of the aircraft soon," Parker wrote in a letter.
As major airlines continue to extend the cancellations, Boeing said Thursday that it has completed 96 flights with Max's new software fix. The planemaker will likely submit the arrangements to Federal Aviation Administration regulators over the next few weeks.
