INDIANAPOLIS – An Indianapolis-based company has given a recall for melon products sold in 16 states after being linked to the salmonella outbreak.
The US Food and Drug Administration said Friday that the recall includes cut flower watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe made by Caito Foods LLC. The fruit is sold under different brands or labels in Kroger, Walmart, Trader Joe, Target and Whole Foods.
Affected states are Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Health officials advise consumers to check the packaging to determine if the melon is distributed by Caito Foods, and, if so, do not eat.
Authorities said 93 people were killed, 23 of them were hospitalized. No reported death.
