Huntington, W.Va. (WSAZ and wire reports) – A new study that says that adults who eat 1 1/2 eggs a day have a high risk of heart disease does not mean that you should stop eating them.
Researchers at Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University show more eggs that you eat, the higher the risk for heart disease and dying in the first place. The culprit is cholesterol in egg yolks, they reported.
Researchers say you can still include eggs in a healthy diet, but in moderation.
However, the study conflicts with other research. In fact, the panel of government nutrition experts in 2015 said that the effects of dietary cholesterol are overly inflated.
They issued a statement saying, "The evidence available is showing no satisfactory relationship between the consumption of dietary cholesterol and serum cholesterol."
